II Corinthians 4 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

If you will give Me your life I will make something beautiful out of it.

The Planning

Psalm 121 I lift my eyes unto the hills. From whence shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip. He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

This is the beginning....The very first blog written in anticipation of my very first medical mission trip to Israel. This is the story of how it came to be; the work that went into planning this trip; the journey of how the Lord brought me to this place at this time. It is a testament to His goodness, His mercy, His unfailing kindness and the fact that He can take someone like me and love me anyway; conform me to His likeness; seek to bring me into a relationship; and reveal to me the vastness of His wisdom and love toward His children, the pinnacle of His creation and the love of His life.

I am so amazed at God's timing. This trip has come to be in the last two weeks but in reality I have been waiting for it for almost ten years. So much work had to be done in me. The work was there, God was there, the need was there....I was lacking. Lacking faith, lacking courage, lacking discipline. God will not use a self-sufficient, self-willed, self-seeking vessel. It has been a trial by fire, and for the most part, I have been weighed in the balance and found wanting. I have been pruned, refined, brought low and, I hope, finally sanded to smoothness but worn, nonetheless. So the promise that God gave so long ago is coming to fruition. A broken heart, a long journey, a new life, a chance meeting, many hours of prayerful expectation and a broken cistern made to hold water. Lord teach me how to be filled up and poured out for you. Anoint me with Your Holy Spirit, lead me through the narrow gate, teach me to love like Christ and then do the miraculous work that belongs to You alone.
