2 Peter 1 And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the days dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someones own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
It must be a terrible thing to go through life never having felt the presence of the God who created you specifically to have a relationship with Him. It would be the most devastating of circumstances. More tragic than never being held by your mother. More painful than any disease. A darkness more profound than blindness. Like never having felt the warmth of sunlight on your face, never smelling a flower, tasting chocolate or hearing the laughter of children. To go through life devoid of the Spirit of God is the ultimate tragedy. An unforgivable waste.
The only thing more shameful might be for those of us who claim the name of Christ to never have shared Him with anyone. We hold within our hearts and hands the miracle of life, eternal life. We have all that is needed to clothe the naked, to feed the hungry, to give sight to the blind, to lead the devastated to the healer.
We all see stories on the news of people dying on the streets no one noticing, children starving to death, the elderly being neglected, animals being mistreated and sometime I wonder, what kind of people can do this?
How many people have crossed my pathway in life who are so desperate for a Savior and I never shared with any of them the love of Christ, the life giving, life altering, life saving love of Jesus. I could have shared with them the most important truth ever given. Given to us to give away to others.
Father awaken Yourself in the hearts of Your people. Pull us from complacency, selfishness, indifference and neglect and be a rising star in our hearts. Burn within us Lord and remind us that every day we have opportunities share the most precious gift ever given to this world with someone else, someone who has been placed in our pathway for such a time as this.
